Panasonic DMR-EX83

Post by andyuk »

Can anyone help with a .bin file for the Panasonic DMR-EX83?

I'm using Slingbox 1.5 software (still prefer it over 2.x), and have tried Alan's RV bin file for the EX78 below which I thought might be close enough, but it doesn't seem to work at all with my EX83. (The .bin loads OK, but I get no response to remote codes.)

I know the IR blaster is positioned OK, as I get some functionality using the bin file for my old E95H which I have just replaced.

1. Device: Panasonic DMR-EX83
2. Type of device: DVR
3. Year: 2010
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Slingbox Classic (RV)
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? No
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? n/a?

Would be most grateful for any help!

There is something wrong with the RV Bin file in that zip file. When I import it into RM there are very few functions defined, but the PL file looks okay. If however, I open Alan's DMR EX78EB.rdmu file and recreate the bin file, and then import the new bin back into RM all the functions are defined.

Alan's DMR-EX78EB Upgrade Uses a standard Panasonic code.

This PANASONIC DMR-EX77-EB upgrade uses a Panasonic Combo code and may give you some extra functionality, but I don't know if this works with slingboxes

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Thanks a lot, Vicky - that was indeed the problem. Recreating the bin file from Alan's rmdu file sorted it perfectly.

Much appreciated!

One problem remains - try as I might, I can't get the coloured buttons (red green yellow blue) to work.

I've tried assigning them to Red Green Yellow and Blue (which appear as Custom buttons 22-25 in slingplayer 1.5), and to Custom 16-19.

Can anyone confirm the codes are correct to the RGYB buttons? Or is there some special problem with these under slingplayer 1.5?

Many thanks!

I do believe those colored buttons require the Panasonic Combo Code, instead of the plain panasonic. There is another upgrade that has those color buttons with a different subdevice.

Brilliant - I now have the coloured buttons working, starting from the PANASONIC DMR-EX77-EB file you mentioned before.

Hopefully with the info in both files, I can put something together that does everything I need.

Thanks a lot - you have saved me a lot of work. :D

One minor niggle remains - I can't get the Exit button working on the slingbox generic DVD remote (v1.5). I want it to send code 193. I can assign it to a custom button OK, but just not to the Exit button.

Alan mentioned a bug in an older RDF, but I'm using the latest one so that can't be the problem....

The are two exit-like buttons, I think the other is "Clear", try assigning the function to both buttons.

Not "Clear"...but "Cancel" did the trick.

Sorted - many thanks!
