RS 15-2116

Does anyone know where I can buy some RS 15-2116s?

I have one now and the buttons are starting to wear down and my kids and I really like the remote and are used to the layout of the buttons.

I went through about ten remotes before I had finally settled on this one, I'd really like to not have to do that again...

If it's not too much trouble, can someone point me to where to get a jp1.3, usb, x64 compatible cable?

The only place where you might find a 15-2116 now is ebay, and I don't expect that you'll see them there that often either. I just took a look and while I didn't find any 15-2116s, I did find two possible remotes for you:

15-1994 - this is the original classic JP1 remote (I still use one everyday)

15-100 - this is the most recent LCD remote from Radio Shack, but it requires a modification to work with a JP1.3 cable:

Yes, I know the 15-2116 won't work with the jp1.3 cable. I just figured that since most of the remotes seem to be using the newer interface and my main pc won't work with the jp1 cable, it would be a good thing have!

You may also want to consider something like the URC-8910. It's similar to the 2116 and easier to find and still works with your old JP1 cable. There is an adapter to make the JP1.3 cable work with JP1 remotes. We also have new drivers for USB JP1 cables so they will work with a 64-bit OS.

Thanks, but that one looks very similar to the urc-8810b00. That was one of the many that I tried out before settling on the 15-2116.

The 15-1994 looks exactly like the 2116 minus the lcd <-- which is fine with me, since I don't really use the lcd anyways.

EDIT:
I've always been curious about the kameleon remotes. (Not curious enough to buy one though!) How do these remotes compare to the 2116/1994?

Don't waste your time with the Kameleons, you won't like them, stick with remotes like the 15-2116 and 15-1994.

That's the way ebay works these days, most experienced ebay users line up snipe bids which get placed automatically in the final seconds of an auction, the idea being that by the time the other bidders get the email from ebay letting them know that they've been outbid, it's too late for them to increase their bid.

imo, that's a stupid way to do business.

ebay didn't create the snipe bid concept, they just created auctions that end at a certain time. When you bid you're supposed to enter the maximum amount that you're willing to pay. However, most people enter the amount that they *hope* to pay. If the snipe bidder were to place his bid earlier, the people that he's beating would quite likely come back and place a higher bid, so by placing their bid at the last possible moment, it gives them the greatest chance of winning the auction.
