KAON K-3000HDPVR

Post by AroundTheWorld »

1. Device: KAON K-3000HDPVR
2. Type of device: Digital Cable HD Receiver
3. Year: 2010? just got it from my Swiss cable provider
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Slingbox Pro
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes, but I am a novice and don't know how to describe - in the Slingbox, when I select Kaon, and then "Other", it is "Code 2" that works for the very basic functions (Power, etc., but not, e.g., EPG and recording (the device has a 250GB HD))
10. Learning remote question? I apologize, I do not have a learning remote and I do not know what a JP1 cable is. I just found this site through a Google search and am trying to post my request in the right format.

Thank you for any advice or help. The reason why I am looking for the code is because my Slingbox does not have my device listed, and without being able to simulate the original remote, I cannot use all of the PVR functionality remotely. Again, thank you.

Edit: I don't know if I should also mention this, but I am using a Mac to use the Slingplayer software.

you said you checked the file section.

Did you try the slingbox bin file for the KAON KVR-1000 PVR?

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Here's a Slingbox file for a Kaon KVR-1000 PVR, give this a try and see if it works:

If you need instructions, they're in the sticky at the top of this forum and in the Readme file in the zip.

Thank you guys so much - I followed the instructions and most of it works. Looks like I can actually record now. There is only one major problem - the "Exit" button does not work anymore under this one, everything else seems to work. But without "Exit", I will get stuck in menus. I am trying to read up on how I could fix this myself, but to be honest, am rather lost.

Thanks and best regards from Switzerland.

I'm also trying to match the custom remote controls. Alan wrote:
I have mapped all the logical keys. Extra functions have been mapped to the Custom Menu on the remote as follows:

Red
Blue
Green
Yellow
TV/Sat
TV/Video
InputRadio
Advance
Replay
Program
So far I have figured out:

Red = Custom 20
Blue = Custom 22
Green = Custom 21
Yellow = Custom 23

My fault. That is a VERY old remote that I built before Colour buttons were implemented on the virtual remote, and it also used the old RDF files where there was a bug that stopped the Exit button from working.

I have brought it bang up-to date so please download it again, I think you will find the Exit button is working and the colour buttons are correctly mapped

Cheers

Al, thank you so much - I really cannot express how much you helped me. I already thought the Slingbox concept was great, but it was frustrating how limited I was without being able to use all the functions. I will be traveling the next 6 weeks, and it will be really nice to be able to record anything from afar and either watch it later or watch it over the Internet. The remote control works perfectly now. Slingbox should really be paying you for this. I called them and all they told me was to ask my cable provider to tell me "the codes". I don't even think the people from my cable provider (a local company that also sells water, electricity and telephone services) would have even understood what I mean. Finding this forum and, through it, you, has been a godsend. Thank you.

P.S.: Just to add to what you wrote in the "Readme" file for the custom controls:

Custom 22: Red
Custom 23: Green
Custom 24: Yellow
Custom 25: Blue

I have saved the custom control numbers on my computer desktop, so I can look them up (until I memorize them). Again, many thanks!

In fact the on-screen remote (maybe not on the standalone MAC player?) now includes the colour buttons so I don't tend to mention them in the Readme.

OK, I better update the README file. I guess they show OK on the Web-based player.
