I have a Onkyo 876 receiver. In the process or programming the remote, I noticed some interesting behavior.
Say you want to play DVD, which is connected to the receiver. You usually program a macro that:
1. turns on the receiver
2. pause about 2 seconds
3. switch the receiver input to DVD.
However I noticed that for this Onkyo 876 receiver, you can just send the command:
switch the receiver input to DVD
That will turn on the receiver AND turn the input to DVD.
It works the same way for all other inputs on the receiver as well.
I am not sure it works for other Onkyo receivers. |

It's actually quite common for discrete input signals to also work as discrete on commands. This works on my Sherwood receiver and it worked on my old Aiwa receiver too. _________________ Rob
