bob_m,
At the risk of making myself the biggest pain in the *** to you, I'm eager to compare notes, because I've got some problems with delcom and your system is similar to mine. I want to confirm that after your initial troubles (remote eeprom too big, etc that you reported) that you can now really work it reliably via the delcom driver and cable.
So, when you find a spare time, could you please, download from the remote 10 to 15 times and confirm that every one of those downloads was perfect, thank you in advance.

Do you want only downloads?

To be honest - I doubt I'll get 10-15 good in a row. Some times I have to do it 2-3 times before it takes.

I'm sorta use to this from the parallel version of the cable I used a few years ago on a different xp machine and OLDER versions of IR/KM/RDFs etc

The last time I lurked here I think the IR Widget was brand new. Prior to that I think JP1.x was just starting to be worked out. (Bought my JP1 remotes in 2005 I think).

EDIT 1: I usually have problems with updates - I'll let you know if I have DL issues...

Yup, want 10-15 good downloads in a row.
'cause I can hardly get any Sad
Seriously, you just answered much of my question and I think your answer is that it varies as you don't get 100% success either way.

For me parallel works 100%. As does the FTDI job with the eeprom plug.

Why did I not ask about uploads? I will not upload till got reliable downloads. That's just me, I guess. Never tried.

Thanks much. Any data you provide will be helpful.

Errors I see:
A) SDA is being Held Low. Make sure batteries are installed
B) Bad checksum at address $0000. Expected $80 $7f, but found $e6 $19
C) SDA being held high
Think both were caused by loose batteries (bottom of remote pointed down)

After initial errors 10x DLs were fine

C and B persisted on a second try (after unplugging and restarting IR).

2nd round of 10x DLs were fine after 2x errors

- - - -
Upload errors after 2nd DL round
D) Data read back differs from data written
success x5
Error A
success x8
Error D

Unplug, restart IR, load my remote's file, upload test round 2
Check Interface
Error A
Success testing connection
Error D x 2
Sucess x3
Error D
Sucess x5 - Did the uploads slower
Error A
Error C
Success - Ok enough aggrivation for tonight.

Ok my setup is not working perfectly - but other than the fluke I posted about last night (another thread) I've had perfect up/downs once the errors went away.

Is the perfect or ideal? NO but its mostly working and once I'm done programming my remotes, I wont mess with JP1 again till new equipment.

I can/will try more test/fixes/drivers - I'd rather have it correct but working is OK for ever few years of updating LOL

EDIT 1: I've also seen errors while UPloading me telling me its the wrong remote or something like that. But none of those during this test
