Upgrade code requires long press to work

Post by urc6131 »

Hi, I recently downloaded upgrade code for a PC remote control:

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6172

I programmed them on my URC-6131n. The key works fine. But for some reasons, I need to press the key longer (about .5 sec) in order for the receiver to log my key press. I never had such problem with other devices with this remote. Nor had I need to do this with the official remote with its receiver.

Is there something special with the remote code that it needs to be pressed for a longer time?

Apparently this device needs to see some repeats before it reacts. So you could tweak the protocol to send a few more frames.

Try this protocol. it sends a minimum of 3 repeats. See if that helps.

Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8+) PB v4.01
43 89 21 8B 13 B6 45 05 07 00 9B 01 77 00 9B 00
7D 18 06 05 E6 02 D5 00 E6 0D 03 8D 01 46
End
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Could something else be going on? I have exactly the same device, but I don't have that problem. Also, I use this upgrade instead so I can use the mouse too:

I am not sure. But the mouse directions for the combined remote does not work for me.

I think it has to do with limitation of my remote URC-6131n. I know that the URC-6131 cannot support 2-byte keymoves. Not sure if it is the case. Hopefully someone can confirm.

If I download the mouse only, it works. However, this is the kicker, if I then add the non-mouse-direction buttons, the mouse direction will be shuffled. They are still there but shuffled. I ended up doing a keymove for each of the mouse direction to get them back to the right place.

BTW, if you use Robman's upload. You may notice that some of the 8-way directions are not right. The receiver actually supports 16-way direction and the manufacturer goofed and put in the wrong ones. When I have time, I will upload the file for 16-way direction code.

Thanks. The remote and receiver is not with me right now. I will try it later when I get them back.
