One For All URC-6885 VCR PRO 3

Post by Jay-Jay »

I own two of these remote controls. They are still in good shape. They all started to fail on me after one year of purchase. So I never returned them to Radio Shack. And we are talking a lot of years now. They have been in my basement for a long time.

Both remotes won't turn on. Install fresh batteries, but they don't work, nor the LCD doesn't turn on.

Do you guys know how to revive these old remotes?

Below is more details on this remote:

IIRC, these remotes have a y2k bug that surfaced around the year 2002 (for some strange reason). To make a long story short, they're not fixable.

Okay thanks. I was afraid of that. I wonder if the company ever made a recall on them?

Well, I've had them almost 10 years, hopefully in another 10 years a fix will come? :D

Recall, nah. They didn't discover the y2k bug until long after this remote was "out of warranty" so to speak.
