Radio Shack drops 15-100 and 15-13x remotes?

Post by The Robman »

I just checked their site and all 4 current models now show up as "out of stock". If you're interested in these models, it might be worth checking your local store to see if they're on clearance, assuming they haven't sold all of their inventory already.

To look for remotes on the Radio Shack site, use this link:

Nope, never heard of it. Judging purely from the look of it, I would say that it probably isn't a UEI remote, but that's just a guess.

It may not be a UEIC remote, but the manufacturer is listed as "One-for-All" and they have several other OFA remotes listed including the Cricket, so I suspect it may very well be an OFA/UEIC remote.

That implies NOTHING about it being JP1-accessible, however.

I'll check with UEI. I had been wondering about the model number of the OARP05S that has been discussed recently because it doesn't follow the normal URC-???? format and I think I've just figured out where the "OAR" comes from...

O = One For All
A = Acoustic
R = Research

("Acoustic Research" is the usual Audiovox brand name for remotes).

Well, I'll find out when they come back into stock, I ordered one a couple of days ago. I tacked to my new order of RFS100's, which brings my total upto 33 rfs100's RF10/mrf100b sets I ordered from mcm. Doing so I saved 5% and got free shipping on the total order.

If you were to just purchase the OARC05G, the lowest shipping is 9.99.

I just heard that the new remotes should be available in the spring (you'll notice that they're all on backorder at MCM) and the 4 and 5 device versions should have a JP1 6-pin. My contact wasn't sure whether the 3 device versions would have the 6-pin or not. However, I'm guessing that they will use the same firmware in all versions (just like the URC-6820/8820/10820) so even if the 3 dev versions don't have a 6-pin, we will probably come up with a mod for them.

This looks exactly like the URC-7950 which we already have an RDF/Map for.

Well I ordered the 5 device and MCM sent the 3 device.:( There are no pins in the 3 device, actually there are no holes either and no mention of learning feature in the manual. But it still learns anyway.:) I'm having MCM refund the difference, and keeping this.

I just purchased a 15-100 at Radio Shack for $14. It was on clearance and there were a few more. I don't know if more have worked their way to the stores or if the store I was at still has had them on the shelf at clearance price for 6 months.

Bonner Springs, KS. I can probably go back and see how many they have and pick them up if people are interested or think it is worthwhile.

So far after looking it over I'm thinking I may like my 8910 better. On the 8910 the L1-4 keys are nice so I can assign my DVR's A,B,C keys. The 8910 also has a better key setup for my DVR's PIP controls. Of course 8 devices on the 15-100 is nice. I guess there is no perfect remote. :)

Plenty left in my area too in SC, last time I checked. But the last time I bought some and tried to resell, I couldn't even give them away.

Rob, do you think it's possible to transplant the RF from a 9910/2117 into a 15-100?

AFAIK there isn't a spot for it, and I don't know if there's room for it inside the casing either.

Good to know, I'll leave them on the shelf and play with the one I have.

I'm scavenging a 6 pin connector from an old sound card and I'm trying to figure out which way I'll add it. There are so many options detailed in the original thread. Decisions, decisions...
