I have Cox cable and their silver Motorola box with HD & DVR functionality. The remote that came with it quit working and digging through my stash of electronics I found my old 6131n.
I always liked this remote, but quit using when I got my Viewsonic LCD HDTV as I couldn't find a code.
After dusting off, I entered code 0476 & 0810 into the CBL/SAT button and it works my Motorola cable box unit. Also it will pause, fast forward, rewind, etc but it DOES NOT allow me to get into my DVR menu so I can watch recorded movies.
On this remote there is also a PVR button but I didn't see a Motorola code for the PVR functionality. And using 0476, 0276 or 0810 does not work on it. Can someone help???
Similar deal with the Viewsonic...absolutely NO codes for Viewsonic TV's. Again, help??? |

In order to give you any kind of help on a code search we really need you to Read This and fill out the template as completely as possible. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Thank you...between this and the special codes listed here, I was able to get my DVR menu to pull up and also program in the A,B & C keys along with Replay and Live. Thank you so much for that link, it contained everything I needed (even the link to the more advanced codes here).

As noted above, the Motorola DVR question has been answered, so now I just need some help with getting the Viewsonic to work. I know the 6131 is just a cheap remote but I really like it alot, I hope I can get it working.
By the way, Viewsonic TV's are NOT listed in the user manual. Copy of the user manual here:
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/media/i3d/01/A/man-migrate/MANUAL000037807.pdf
Hope this is what you need:
1. Device: Viewsonic N4251w
2. Type of device: LCD HDTV
3. Year: January 2007
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: 6131n
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes, but not sure I was looking at the right info
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes, see below
9. Partially working setup code? No
10. Learning remote question? N/A

Try TV 0054. Then see if advanced code 044 works for power (that matches the pronto codes). If so, I'll decode the rest of them. Most of them are already HERE. |

Although TV 0054 is a good match, I'd suggest using TV 1254 or TV 1351 instead, because those or more compatible with the ViewSonic. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Entered the 0054 code and re-keyed to 044 as suggested. Unfortunately, no go on power or any other function.
Same deal with 1254. And 1351 was not accepted by the remote (only 1 long blink vs 2 short blinks). |

At least we've established the pronto hex posted isn't for your tv. No guarantee it's a match, but an upgrade HERE for a viewsonic similar to yours would be TV 1542, 1627 or 1640. The radio shack 15-133, 134 and 135 have the first two, and some atlases have the second. Unfortunately, your remote has none of them.
Atlases are typically $8 shipped on ebay (and here in the marketplace) and are functionally similar to your 6131. Spend a couple more bucks for a radio shack and get more devices plus learning. |

I think there may be two completely different issues here. 1) The hex codes listed above are ostensibly for 2008 model year TVs, and the 4251 is a couple of years older than that. Viewsonic has used a lot of different protocols, but nearly all of the older ones are some variant of NEC protocol. Since 0054/1254 don't seem to work, this TV probably doesn't use RC5. None of the NEC protocols used in upgrades in the files section are supported natively by the 6131.
2) aren't 6131 remotes incapable of handling EFC style keymoves? |

x76, I'm sorry, I thought I was talking to someone else who has done a lot of the codes/efcs.
TV code would be
10054 or 11254 or 11351
Efc to check would be
00044
Change to one of those 3 TV codes a
Then point your remote at the TV
short press of the setup
type 0 0 0 4 4 _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

About a year or so ago, I tried getting all this to work and it didn't pan out then either. Of course I didn't have the great knowledge of this forum either. One thing I have read is something about adding a memory chip & cable to program in "new codes" that wasn't originally supported. Also I think I saw something about shipping the remote back to OFA and they would do the upgrade for me. Is that right?

1. Yes, the TV has a manufacture date of January 2007, so this model was probably released late 2005/early 2006 if I were guessing.
2. Yes, the remote does support EFC style keymoves. That is what I used to get my DVR buttons working with the Motorola cable box/DVR unit.

My remote uses 4 digit codes and I already tried this (0054, 1254 & 1351) without success. The 0054 & 1254 codes were accepted and did nothing even after a EFC re-map. The remote didn't even accept the 1351 code. |

Just in case you ever get a JP1 cable, I used your pronto codes with the JP1 tools to create the respective files.
