I was a little confused by the post since I have no record of a DVD/1558 code. I couldn't find a file called Sylvania LD200SL8 either. I did however find Sylvania LD155SL8 Remote Part# NF602UD
which I suspect the elf was using and it was called called DVD/1558.
ths is a NEC1 132.224 upgrade.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

Try EFC 251 for your DASH for the digital channels.
You might have to do some EFC experiments to find a volume setup on a guess I'd start with 052,056,165 to see if this does anything with the volume. If these don't then carefully work your way through all the 255 possible EFC's. You need to do this carefully because certain combinations can cause some TV's to get into service menus.

I got the 1558 code from opening DavidEC2955's upgrade file.
I don't have an OEM remote for this (never have). (Display model)
(I'm guessing that I am "the elf".)
The volume lock was set on the remote.
I bought this radio shack remote specifically to operate this tv (knowing I could reprogram it if need be) and this was the first item I tried to load.
I already had the USB cable from programming my main TV into a Comcast remote so it seemed like a good idea (cheap remote that I could alter if need be) to go with this remote.
I didn't think to check th vol lock as I never set it and it didn't dawn on me that it would have come turned on.
When I loaded my primary TV, my Comcast remote didn't have the codes preloaded. When opened that upgrade file it listed the code that most places suggested so I assumed that that was common practice to list a standard code and that mine just didn't come preloaded wth it.
Sorry about the confusion.
Thank you for your help.
