Panasonic DMP-BD80 - Multi-region Blu-Ray Hack

Post by beristade »

Hi All,

Does anyone know whether there is a hack to make a UK purchased (Region B) DMP-BD80 play all the Blu-Ray regions? :?:

Grateful for any pointers.

There must be a way to hack it because they're selling region free versions on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0320693894

But I checked videohelp.com where hacks are normally stored and they don't have the hack:

I found this "chipped" remote on ebay that says it will remove the DVD region code but *NOT* the Blue-Ray region code:

Seems like someone has figured out a hack on the Panasonic DMP-BD80 now?

Can someone verify this?

Here is the hack as posted on videohelp.com
aslanyandavid wrote:1. Use the remote that came with the player to bring the player out of standby, make sure there isn't a disc in it.
2. Press the Activity button "Panasonic MR" and the remote will send the 10 hack commands in sequence.
3. If all works ok the Blu Ray player will reboot
When its finished it will not actually tell you its region free, just simply try it with different region DVDs.
If it works, we'll need someone with one of Tommy's IR capture devices to capture all 10 hack commands if we want to be able to replicate them in a JP1 remote.
