problem reading 1067Bg3-0001-R remote from comcast

If all 6 wires are connected, we have found your problem. Do you have any JP1.1 remotes? I ask because cutting the #5 wire will break the cable for JP1.1 remotes.
If you decide to cut it, the best way to do it is to remove the IDC, fold back the #5 wire and then re-connect the IDC. If you're not comfortable doing that, just try to cut the wire as close to the IDC as physically possible.

This interface only works for JP1.2 and JP1.3. I have another JP1.1 interface with a parallel connector.
I didn't want to modify the interface, but was thinking I could clip the pin on the remote. Is that a bad idea? What's the numbering scheme, from a known pin 1, looking at the connector inside the remote?

Ok, so this is were the issue is I think. The 1067 Bx3 is labeled JP1.3 on the circuit board. The 1057 BG1 is labeled JP1.2 In the master remote spreadsheet, the this is how these remotes are categorized. But you say the sig is for a JP1.1 remote. This is confusing. The other cable I have connects to the laptop via a 25 pin connector (large version of serial cable). Is that another type of serial connector?

If that's true, these remotes appear to be exceptions.
All other JP1.3 remotes all have sigs like 3xxx3xxx, JP1.2 remotes all have sigs like 1xxx1xxx and the JP1.1 remotes have sigs like CSxxxxxx.
But, I just looked at the RDFs for the three CS30xxxx remotes and they do all claim to be HCS08 remotes (ie, JP1.2).
Actually, now I'm confused, because I just looked at the Extract files for all the known Comcast SST JP1.1 remotes and the protocol code appears to be the same as the HCS08 protocol code. The only remote with different code is the Atlas URC-1047 (sig CS400102).
Of course, it doesn't help that Comcast keeps using the same model numbers, even when they switch from SST to HCS08 to S3F8 processors.

All my CS301009 remotes are labeled JP1.2 on the board. They come in 3 different styles. Some look like the 1057, 1068 and 1067a. I have Comcast JP1.1 that look just like my JP1.2 remotes but they have different signatures and say JP1.1 or JP1 on the circuit board.
I do know that the CS301009 uses a differnt chip than the Atlas and 8820 family. I suppose this really needs a definition of what makes a remote a JP1.2 or a JP1.1. Is it the flash chip manufacturer, is it the flash chip size, or is it what is stamped on the board?
I think the JP1.2 hybrid remote has still another chip, but I'm not sure.
For me, the non electronic person, JP1.3 1067B remotes have a RED OK/Select button, while the JP1.2 1067A has a gray okay select.

Thanks mdavej. That's exactly it, a JP1 parallel interface (not JP1.1).

So the 1067B-30393039 signature now has a the gray ok/select? I'm sure glad I loaded up with my 1067a's before this one came out. Comcasts are really confusing!
You do realize that the CS301009 was actually the 1067A even though it is labeled with a sticker that would seem to indicate its the 1067B
I'm sure glad that the boxes and boxes of Comcast remotes I picked up followed the RED button rule.
Its no secret that the 30393039 is the only remote they are giving out. That's been true for over a year. Its got way more upgrades and more memory than the 1067a, it even has a phantom device.
I wonder why the UEI went back to Samsung. Perhaps because we were able to crack the security that Motorola was promising?

JP1.1 remotes use an SST flash processor
JP1.2 remotes use a Motorola (Freescale) HCS08 flash processor
JP1.3 remotes use a Samsung S3F8 flash processor
If there is any doubt as to which type a remote is, all you need to do is install an upgrade that uses a protocol, if it works you have the correct type.
JP1.1 remotes use an SST flash processor
