1. Device: Yamaha HTR-6130
2. Type of device: Receiver
3. Year: not sure, bought 12/2008
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: Comcast Custom DVR 3 in 1 Universal
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? no
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? YES
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? n/a

I have tried EVERY CODE I think possible, including every code I've found on here: 0176, 1176, 0354, 0490, 0539, 0545, 0354, 0186, 1276, 0074, 1331, 1276, 1375, 0143, 0133, 0504, 0158, 1068, 0187, 1675, 8820....

Nothing works! I only want my comcast remote to turn on and off and volume up/down for my receiver. I am pretty sure I'm following the directions correctly....

FYI: Does it matter that I previously had my DVD player programed to the AUX button? Do I have to remove that code first before programming a new one?

Thanks!!!

First, did you check to see if you turned off volume punch through for AUX? If it is turned on, the remote will send the signal for volume commands for one device, no matter what device mode it is in. The default setting is for TV, so it will send the signals for volume for TV even if you have the device mode to AUX.

To turn it off for AUX, do the following:
1. Press and release the device button of the device you want to turn off volume lock (in this case AUX)
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 993
4. Press and release VOL-

Now, try the setup codes and try the volume keys. I would guess that setup code AUX/0176 would work.

As for the power function, I would guess that your receiver has discrete power on and off, and the POWER key in setup code AUX/0176 is set to power toggle which your receiver does not have. Try this to test:
1. Set the AUX to setup code 0176, if you haven't already
2. Turn off your receiver
3. Press and release SETUP
4. Point the remote to your receiver and type 00248

When you press the last digit, it should turn on your receiver. If it does, do the following to make it permanent:
1. Press and relase AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 994
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type 00248
6. Press and release POWER

Now the POWER key should turn on your receiver. Since you have discrete power functions, you need to use another key for power off. I suggest using SHIFT-POWER. Repeat steps 2-6 above except use code 00246 in step 5 and press and release SETUP between steps 5 and 6. Now, if you press and release SETUP and the press POWER, the receiver should turn off.
