Is there a proper procedure to convert a RM file to clean hex code that can be used in mx editor?

You can usually use makehex to make the clean hex codes. Open the upgrade file from RM and in the SETUP tab, you will find the Protocol name. Find the irp file in the Makehex folder that corresponds to the protocol and open it as a text file to change the parameters shown in Protocol Parameters section in RM (see Makehex's readme for more explanation). If Protocol name in RM says "Manual", it's a much more difficult and involves decoding the signal and creating a new irp file. Save the modified irp file and drag it to Makehex.exe and it will generate a ".hex" file that is a text file will all the command codes from 0 to 255 (or whatever you set the "Function" parameter to in the irp file). In RM, go to "Functions" tab and find the OBC for each of the functions you want and find that number in the ".hex" file and the Pronto hex code for that function is under that.

This may sound a bit confusing, so if you have an RM file you have in mind to convert, post the link to it and I can go through it for you with that specific file.

I am trying to get these device commands to work with a URC MX-810. When I pull the panels over from the universal browser only a few control the device.

I think this is an imonpad irp file but I am not sure.

Hi Rob,
I tested these codes in my MX-810 and colored red the ones that worked. Do these codes have something in common that is different from the rest? Can you think of anything else that I can do to get the rest working? Do you think your RM for the CW-3000HD be ready to use MAKEHEX any time soon? Is there any other way I can edit these pronto hex codes to try and clean them up for my MX-810? What do you think the Harmony Tech Sup did to make this CCF file work with their 880?

Hi Robman,
I beleive that the pronto hex in the CCF file is somewhat dirty. I could not get very many of the buttons to work in my URC MX-810. I also could not receive help from the MX-810 people. My MX-810 and my MX-900 failed to learn the toggle bit from my oem CW remote. I have been up against a wall on this CW thing for quite sometime. Anyways I would really apreciate some direction on the IRP file for making hex from this CW RM file if you feel the file is ready and working.

When you tried to learn from the OEM remote, what learning method did you use? Even though the correct learning method is normally to hold the button down on the teaching remote until the learning remote is done, in this case that won't work because of the toggle bit.

The format of the signal is...
part1
gap
part1 (repeat while held)
part2 (when button released)

The Pronto hex format doesn't support sending a different pattern when the button is released, so the best you can do is to create a non-repeating patterm which just includes part1, the gap, and part2. That's what the creator of the codes posted above did.

The Pronto code above is very clean, the only variable is the length of the gap between the two parts.

So, bottom line, I would recommend that you re-try learning from the OEM remote using the MX remote, only this time use short presses of the OEM remote buttons.

I used many different kinds of button presses. I did long presses, short presses(of different speeds) and flutternig short presses. I just tried again for +4 hours with success on only a single number ( the "2" key ). It gave me some hope but I am at my wits end. I have been watching this thread in hopes that it would somehow eventually get me control of this device with my MX-810. Now the file is working (sling box and JP1) and I am still S.O.L. I really appreciate all the efforts you have personally made with this protocol. I have been pulling for you the whole way. This just sucks. I wish I would have bought a JP1 remote way back when, but I am stuck with this MX-810. The CW-3000HD is the reason that I bought this MX-810 in the first place so I could use the RF signal with the MRF-300. Can you reccomend a forum other than remote central that may be able to help MX people? I guess I could try posting there again, but last time I got no love... Sad

If you have ANY other suggestions I would love to read them.

If you can't get the MX810 to work, maybe you should buy a JP1 remote that has an RF extender, like the URC-9910.
