Repeat protocol?

I have a Panasonic TV and a URC 7556 JP1.2 remote. My TV goes into a deep standby after a couple of minutes of being turned off, and the only way to turn it on is to hold down the power button for a couple of seconds. I want to program the TV Device button with a macro that turns on the TV (and then the Amp).

If I program the macro with a series of power buttons, the macro executes too slowly to turn the TV on. I found this posting here, and tried to get the protocol to work, but have not had any success.

Can anyone help me solve this problem please?

So you used protocol builder and changed the values for your panasonic combo protocol to have a repeat value of 5, Type force, Hold Yes to work with your updgrade and it didn't work?

You'll need to post your protocol builder file, along with your IR file and any KM/RM file so that we can see what went wrong.

I've tried to make things as simple as possible, and build things up a step at a time.
The uploaded files are here. The TV device works fine. I then added the protocol, by copying the data from the link in the original posting. To take things one step at a time, I copied the data from the original protocol (Panasonic combo) - i.e. without the repeat, expecting this to overwrite the existing protocol with the same data.
This caused my remote to crash - when I pressed a button the first time, the device light flashed, but then no further button presses cause a light to flash.
There must be something wrong with the protocol, but I am not sure what.

So you pasted this protocol into your IR file?

Upgrade protocol 0 = 00 cd (S3C80) Panasonic Combo

I don't have IR or Excell here but I see this data in the IR file that you pasted this protocol into your IR file.

Do you see the (S3C80) that says this is code for an older processor. You missed a step. You need to disassemble this using protocol builder, and then change the processor to the one that starts with an Hxxxx I can't remember how to spell it, but since you are using a JP1.2 remote, you need to create an upgrade in the correct language.

Take the protocol above, paste it into the disassemble area, press the disassemble button, change the processor and voila you should have a new protocol upgrade, unless this is a protocol that has code. In that case you'll need help of someone that writes assembler.

Thanks for the reply - I think I understand. Unfortunately, I only have Excel 2007, and this doesn't work with protocol builder. I will have to wait until tomorrow when I can get access to a 2003 copy. I'll let you know how I get on.

NGH, I plugged that protocol into protocol builder, and I see that it has assembly code, so its not a simple translate.

Unfortunately my JP1 tools are probably not uptodate since I'm working off line, and I didn't bring your IR code home to see if there are any other newbie mistakes in there.

So I went to KM (9.06) and picked up the Panasonic Combo for the HCS08 and plugged it into ProtocolBuilder(4.0) and decoded that and added the assembly language for a 5 repeat. (Mov #$05, $B2)

Upgrade protocol 0 = 00 CD (HCS08) Panasonic Combo with Repeat PB v4.00

You don't know how happy I am to hear that! I have been reading protocol posts for 2 years trying to get my head around this subject, and this is the first time I've been able to make it from point A to point B.
