Thanks. I've updated both files again to include 011A:2.

I've been testing in RM gertc's rdf and map files and I've found that in the "Layout" sheet appears a "button61" that I can't locate in the remote.

Also some of the maps doesn't show the drawing of the keys correctly, for instance the AUD image doesn't draw a square around "eject" or "preset". I've checked that the drawing is defined in the map file.

Is this something RM should "guess" from the RDF?

That's a phantom button. It's in the keymap, but doesn't have a physical button. Just add phantom1=$61 to the Buttons section (or the next phantom if 1 is already used). Also, the button text in the rdf and the map have to match exactly (no guessing), or the button won't get drawn.

In some of the latest JP1.3 remotes, there are a number of times when you'll find a button that is in the button list for a device but there is no such button on the remote. this is probably one of them.

The remote CAN somehow generate these keys, but I've never figured it out.

dave, I'd be careful about adding it as a phantom since the remote may have some kind of feature hardwired to that key code (since it knows that nothing can ever generate it) if all of a sudden that key starts to show up, the remote may do something that is very different than what you expected!

I've seen that there's a $61 button in the [ButtomMaps] section in the item "3" (DVD), but no $61 button is defined (line 211, col 25). Is it OK?. Could it be a misspelled key?.

About the missing keys I've found that:

    * Keys "A", "B" and "C" ($2D, $2E and $2F) are only found in the SAT (0) buttonmap (the one Binky and I checked).
    * The AUD map (5) is missing the "Eject" ($67) and "Preset" ($68) keys.
    * The SAT map (0) is missing the "PVR" key ($54).
    * The DVD map (3) is missing the "TV/DVD" ($42) key .

I've checked that if I add them randomly in the rdf [buttonmaps] section they "appear" in RM, but I know that thay must be listed in some order and I don't know how to find it.

Note: Edited to delete the bright+/- and color+/- keys as they are correctly listed in the rdf.

I've also found that the "Home Theater" button configuration was incomplete so I've added a few lines to the rdf:
Code:
G1 HT Power=$023.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G2 HT Channel=$024.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G3 HT Volume=$025.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G4 HT Control=$026.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G5 HT Number keys=$027.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G6 HT Audio=$028.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G7 HT Menu/Arrows=$029.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G8 HT Guide=$02a.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G9 HT Txt=$02b.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G10 HT AV=$02c.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G11 HT Tune=$02d.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G12 HT PP=$02e.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G13 HT 16:9=$02f.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G14 HT Timer=$030.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G15 HT Info=$031.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G16 HT Eject=$032.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G17 HT Audio/Subt=$033.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons
G18 HT ABC=$034.7.8.1.0 DeviceButtons

According to the manual the Home Theater button maps 18 different groups of keys to different devices. Not all devices are suitable for any given key. The possible assignments are:
Code:

Group Keys
          Suitable devices
1 Power:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

2 Channel Up, Channel Down:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

3 Volume Up, Volume Down, Mute:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

4 REW, Play, FF, Pause, Record, Stop,Skip fwd, Skip reverse:
          VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

5 Digits 0-9, +10:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

6 Input 1-9, 0, SEL, Centre +/-, Rear +/-, Surround, DSP, Select function:
          AUD1, AUD2

7 Menu, Up, Down, Left, Right, OK, Exit:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

8 Guide:
          SAT, DVD, AUX2

9 Expand, Text, Hold, Mix, TV, Index, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue:
          TV1, TV2, SAT

10 -/--, AV:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

11 Tune +/-:
          AUD1, AUD2

12 PP:
          TV1, TV2, SAT
13 16:9:
          TV1, TV2

14 TV/VCR, Timer, SP/LP:
VCR (AUX1 is incorrrectly listed in the manual)

15 Info:
          SAT

16 Eject:
          VCR, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

17 Audio, Subtitle:
          SAT, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX2

18 A, B, C:
          TV1, TV2, VCR, SAT, CD, DVD, AUD1, AUD2, AUX1, AUX2

The remote only allows assignments according to this list, but I've found that from IR you can set any device to any group.

There is nothing you can do about the [ButtonMaps] section. That is how the remote has assigned the various keycodes to the device modes. Some keycodes are not appropriate for certain device modes(transport keys-play,rewind for a TV device). Keycode$61 is a phantom key as explained above. It probably isn't assigned to a physical button. As suggested above, if you want to reference it, you'll have to add a Phantom1=$61 entry to your [Buttons] section.

I found it. $61 is TV/DVD. It has the wrong key code in the rdf file.

I've also found when trying to build an upgrade for my Pioneer DVD using the "Pioneer DVD" protocol that RM says that I need "Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 7E (HCS08) Pioneer DVD (RM v1.86)", however I've been using the built in DVD/0571 to control the DVD.

Is it OK?. Surprised

Thanks. I've updated the RDFs to use TV/DVD=$61.

DVD/0571 uses Pid 007E - Pioneer DVD/MIX. I'm not familiar with the differences in the Pioneer protocols 017E and 007E. It may be related to how many devices each can control or that 017E might be an improvement over 007E.
