IR transceiver and remote

Post by chrisbrit »

I have no idea if this usergroup can help me. I'm in unfamiliar territory.
Recently I 'downgraded' my HP Pavillion desktop media PC, from Vista OS to Windows XP Media Edition.
Everything is working well - except the IR transceiver and remote can not communicate. I can not find a driver or anyway to reset the remote. I have tried everything suggested thru XP usergroups and have updated the OS.
Is this something you can help me with - or point me to someplace that can?
Been searching all day long looking for answers on the net.
TIA
:?: :(

I believe that you need to get your hands on a special version of XP called something like the Windows Media Center or XP media center edition, or some such.

none of the media center stuff is in the base XP and I don't think that MS ever sold the pieces as a separate package
this JP1 stuff is a sickness!

I believe that there are some Vista MCE remotes that might not have any XP drivers. Media Center remotes usually only work within media center so other applications can't access it (other tuner interfaces like Sage, GB-PVR, etc)

If possible, try to determine the manufacturer of the remote. (or even the tuner card) You might be able to find MCE drivers by the brand.

As for help, that would be best provided by the forum dedicated to the software you intend to use to control the tuner, or a forum dedicated to the brand of tuner in use. You're going to have to "get your hands dirty" and find out what kind of hardware you have. (makes and models)
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.
