|
|
my girlfriend lost the panasonic tv remote.
it is model ty-st42px5w.
i am using tv code 250 but i am having problems with it on my 7800 remote.
i don't have an enter button.
the enter button presently turns the menu screen on but then i cannot pick one of the items and go through a setup.
i have power and up/down arrows and input and that's about it.
is there a better code i can use since i can't do any learning without the original remote. |

It would help if you used the template in this post and posted in the code search area. Plus, I believe TY-ST42PX5W is the model number for the stand, not the TV.
Do you have a JP1 cable, and have you tried one of the upgrade files for Panasonic TV? Or if you don't have a JP1 cable, have you tried entering some advanced codes from here? |

i got excited when i saw a model no. on the stand thinking i didn't need to turn the plasma around to look for the number.
i will try some of the advanced codes and see what i get.
thanks for the reference -- and the panny education. |

The model number isn't that important. The correct advanced codes won't vary much between models.
You may find the advanced codes (EFC numbers) in posted JP1 upgrades are a better source of information than the page linked by kupakai.
To use jp1 files as a source of advanced codes, you don't need a jp1 cable, but you do need the KM spreadsheet and/or RemoteMaster Java program to read the file. Both are free downloads.
It is possible that some functions cannot be generated using just advanced codes. For a few such functions, the simplest answer is learning. Despite what the documentation may imply, you can lear a signal onto almost any button of the 7800. But you are limited in the total number of learned signals you can have. |

John
no oem remote so no learning.
i will try to install one of the panny 1250 codes and see if that helps me out.
kind of weird not having the enter button since right now it just duplicates the menu button.
to change inputs, i hit input key on the 7800 and the arrow keys and just wait for the input to change.
but can't get into setup menus without the enter key. |
