Unable to add Pioneer DVD protocol (007E) to device combiner

Post by hansdegit »

Hi,

For a few years I have been the happy owner of a URC-7560. One of the device upgrades is a device combiner which combines RC5 and Pioneer DVD protocol.

A few days back I ordered a URC-10820 and I would very much like to port my upgrades to that new remote. So I started working with KM (v9.12) on a few upgrades.

Here is my problem: KM does not accept protocol id 00 7E in the device combiner when I select the URC 10820. I works like a charm when I select my current URC-7560. :?

How is this possible and what can I do to overcome this problem?

Thanks in advance.

The answer is a little complicated. While the URC-10820 does have the 007E protocol built in, it is a newer version which we call Pioneer DVD2. It is incompatible with the device combiner because it uses 2-byte commands, and KM will not let you add it to the device combiner for that reason.

It would theoretically be possible to install a protocol upgrade for the older version, but unfortunately we don't have one for the HCS08 processor used in the URC-10820.

If you are using the device combiner only to add a few commands for the Pioneer device, perhaps you could accomplish this with keymoves instead.
