|
|
Just purchased a OneForAll (URC-8910) and I am interested in learning how to use the JP1 connector in with the batteries.
I purched the unit from Radio Shack and the cable was not with it.
I have been reading the other posts without much luck in finding the IR.EXE to download.
My basic objective is to save/upload the remote control as I currently have it programmed to a file on a PC.
If this is possible?
Does the cable normaly come with the unit?
Does the IR.EXE normaly come with the unit?
Where can I find the ir.exe link to download.
Go easy on me its my 1st post to any forum. |

Hi Tony, welcome.
I was in your exact shoes a couple of months ago. After reading a bunch of posts and asking questions I've gotten the remote set up the way I want it...which is what you're trying to do.
JP1 cables/connector do not come standard/free with any remote. This cable allows you to "hack" into the remote, so you see why is doesn't come standard. This cable can be made by you or bought from several sources, two of which are available from www.hovisdirect.com ($14) and jp1.filebug.com ($20).
IR.exe is a program that the great people here developed to allow an easy interface for you to use your computer to "hack" into the remote. Again, it doesn't come standard. It's available to you for free at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/
Just go to the Tools section and you'll see the latest version of IR.
I HIGHLY recommend reading the JP1 for beginners:
http://www.lucindrea.com/jp1/JP1_For_Beginners_Rev1.1.htm
At first it's a bit over whelming but if you can follow directions it'll work out
Happy reading... |

Tony,
JP1 is a home grown process, Radio Shack doesn't even know what their own remotes are capable of doing. _________________ Rob

If you have the inclination the instructions to build your own jp1 cable can be found here. |
