urc-10820 + urc-3000 x10 on off buttons

Hi - I just got a urc-10820 remote and I want to see if I can do as much as possible before needing to hack it with JP1.

I am not having luck making it work with the ofa urc-3000 ir receiver. I am using code 0167 and I can only get the dim (+-chan), all-off, and numerical keys to work. That is, I cannot get on/off (+-vol) or all-off (mute) to work. These keys do cause the remote's led to flash, but the receiver led does not flash.

The receiver does work with my 15 yr old 15-8905 radio shack remote. I therefore tried code 0240 and none of the keys work.

I did find another thread where a user had a problem with these buttons not working, but his thread was asking about JP1 hacking right off the start.

So I could learn the codes from my old remote, or I could hack the remote with JP1. But, seriously, in this crazy world of IR compatibility, I find it hard to believe that the OFA people would forget to make their own products talk to each other. I must be doing something wrong?

Try the following on the 10820: Using advanced codes, VOL UP- 047, VOL DOWN-239, Mute-238:

1. cd device or whatever device you're using forcode 0167
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9 9 4
4. tap set for one blink
5. enter 0 4 7
6. press VOL UP key

repeat for VOL down & mute

Yes, I had tried the 993 before. Actually, before I programmed anything, I tried to get X10 working, and the on/off (vol) button did not work at that point.

Subsequently, I did lock the volume to my amp, and unlocked it for the CD (x10). This is verified by using the vol keys when in CD mode, and the amp does not respond.

I didn't want to bring up the fact that there is a similar thread, as it is quite different than what I was asking. I guess what I was really trying to say was that I did research before posting.

Let me have a look at the 994 solution.
I think that this is programming punch through.

Yes, I tested the 993 and it didn't work, so I edited the post above, try the advanced codes instead.

edit: the advanced codes should be 5 digit, so you have to add two zeroes to the front of each, VOL UP-00047, VOL Down-00239, Mute- 00238.

Thanks MaskedMan - you must also ride a white horse. Your silver bullet worked.

I'll have to do some digging on these advanced codes. I recall seeing the term, but I don't recall a lot of info on it. It does sound significant. That is, equally as important as learning or JP1. It may already be there, but it seems worthy of a sticky.
