The one you reference in that section is The Robman file that is not completed.

I'm looking for a completed one, as I am not up to speed on finishing the protocol section.
Rob has apparently uploaded an updated version of that RDF. It says last updated Tue Feb 26, 2008 11:15 pm. However, I can't get it to load in RM, so I suspect there is still a problem in it. (Seemingly a problem with line 9 "MacroSupport=No". It loads fine when I comment that line out). If the rdf is good, even if there is no map and image for it, RM should work. You just have to do button assignments on the Buttons tab rather than the Layout tab.

Any idea on the correct procedure in producing the digital jpg image for the map.
Yeah. Grab an image from wherever you can and re-size it to about 150x450 pixels. I have grabbed most of my images from the UEIC support website. Find your remote (you may have to look within a particular cable provider's subsection (see the links on the lower left of that page) to find a cable provider-specific model). Usually, the support page for the remote includes a link to a PDF of the manual, and you can capture the image off of the front page of that PDF. If you can't find one on-line, your crappy digital photo is probably good enough. Even if it's blurry, you can use it. You don't have to be able to read the button names, since you create all of those in MapIt when you create the Map file. It may not be pretty, but it'll be functional.

Finally, in general, you can't "damage" your remote simpy by uploading something to it, but it helps if you have a way to recover back to what it was originally, so it's good advice to first DOWNLOAD FROM the remote into IR (do a RAW download, for which you do not need an rdf) and save the resultant IR file so that you can subsequently reload it if necessary.

The other "get out of jail" option is usually a MFR reset, but without a setup button, I have no idea how you would do that.

This remote doesn't support KeyMoves or Macros so it's not very useful. I've commented out the MacroSupport=No line and re-uploaded it.

Capn Trips:

I'll change the name and include the space.

I looked on the web site no go. I guess very few of these were made.

I'll "geter done" one way or another.

binky123:

Thanks for the heads-up on the No macro or keymoves. Sad

Makes it a wet blanket now. I use it for practice work.
