Hi All,

We had a lot of discussion going back in this thread:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8856

regarding coloring buttons on remote - particularly the 8910/9910.

I think I happened upon the perfect solution for this - lure dye. Strange but true. Just brush this stuff on a button and 10 minutes later you have a colored button that looks like it came that way from the factory! Note that I highly suggest taking the remote apart to do this and taking the rubber buttons out to get even coverage and avoid staining the remote. This stuff soaks INTO the rubber - it aint going anywhere.

Here is the product:

And the result! :

Of course now I have enough dye to do about 10000 remotes.. But it was cheap enough Smile

Enjoy fellow OCD remote aficionados.

The green is a little funny looking but it definitely looks like it stained the buttons well. The label is still easily readable too.

Yep. If anyone else does this - you might consider getting the other green color - pumpkinseed vs. june bug which is what I got.

And for Atlantic salmon, which breaking strain line do you suggest with the 8910 colored hot pink?

Turns out the bad green was due to not cleaning my brush well enough.

I used cue tips on my subsequent remotes and it looks a lot better (not to mention less mess)

Neat job. Note for anyone coloring their remote to mirror a European model - the original order is Red, Green, Yellow, Blue.

Will this stuff work on changing black buttons to blue, red, yellow, green?

No, it is just dye. If there is a clear part of the button in question - it would get dyed, but the black will stay black.
