Newbie needs remote to work timer recording on dvd/vcr combo

Post by pana2 »

Hi,

I'm trying to find a universal remote control to work the timer recording feature on the VCR portion of a Sony dvd/vcr combo machine. I've tried several different universal remotes and they all just do basic stuff (fast forward, rewind etc). I want to be able to use the timer programming on the VCR. I've heard about learning remotes but I'm not sure what they do - is that what I would I need to use the timer programming feature. I don't have the original remote for the Sony combo unit anymore.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A learning remote is only good if you still own the original sony remote, what it does can than be taught to the learning remote.

If you were to get a OFA remote with dvd code 0864 on board, you can access to these advanced codes:

Pana, you can't go wrong with a learning OFA remote.

If you have a partial working code, you can send "advance codes" or assign "advance codes" to various buttons for regular use. If you get a learning remote you can learn functions. But IF YOU GET A CABLE and a OFA remote you can unleash the power of your OFA remote with the tools you find here.

I was a little reluctant to buy my first cable. I just didn't realize how easy it would be to visually manage my remotes with the wonderul tools I found here on this site. With a cable, your remote will always be up to date, because you can create upgrades for new equipment as you add new components.

Good Luck
