Convert Dish Network remote to JP1 ? (Updated)

Post by Duane »

Has anybody tried to convert a Dish Network remote to a JP1 remote?

My father has finally figured out to use a Dish Network remote with my 622 via TV1 and TV2. But his Dish remote TV2 does not have a code for his TV (tried power scan too).

This link has info on the EEPROM chip used in a Dish remote
http://www.atmel.com/dyn/resources/prod ... oc0180.pdf. I don't have the knoweldge to do anything with this info! Anyone here willing to accept the task?

Many Thanks in advance

Duane

doubtful

instead you can load up the Dish network upgrades into pretty much any JP1 remtote. The URC-6131 (modified by Rob) is good choice for the PVR. however, you can't get anything that will replace the UHF remote for TV2, I've tried numerous times to make a JP1 remote work but have not yet been successful.

Yes, the UHF part is my biggest problem!
I have already upgraded my RS 15-1994 remote with my home made cable. To do the PVR functions for the 921 I had, and now my 622 (on address 2). Also added DVD recorder funtions to AUX 1 device button.

This looks like where Dish uploads codes to the remote.

That looks like where the slide switch to go from device to device goes.

On second thought this is where the UHF A to UHF B switch goes, on remotes that have the switch.

UHF Pro to UHF ?

Its a standard i2c EEPROM, which you could read with the JP1 interface and IR software. You are on your own though, figuring the data read out. I doubt you'd find much with that small an eeprom.
