I have made a lot of progress since I got my JP1 cable the other day but I have come to a halt.

I am using IR version 4.01 and the updated decodeir 2.05 and have an URC-8900.

I have a Sharp DV-740 DVD player. I learned that DVE-611 is that exact same so I used the same txt file. I downloaded the file imported into ir and worked fine. The only thing that the file didn't have was and EFC for power. So I used my oem remote and learned the power button and downloaded the info to IR. From what I understand from the posts I should have and learned tab in IR. Hopefully I am missing something really simple but I do not have that tab.

Also, I have an ONKYO TX-SR500 Receiver which works with setup code 135. The problem is that there is very limited functionality. For example I there is not a button for me to select DVD. Is there a way for me to use the setup code and edit it in KM or do I need to learn the each button? I have already tried other files that people have uploaded but none of them work.

Thanks

Let's start from the top. You are aware that the remote you have is one of the "P-8" series of remotes? These remotes, (the learning models) use two MCU chips and have 2 eeproms. The remote itself operates with a Mits 740 chip and it's eeprom. The learning portion uses a s3c8 MCU and it's own eeprom. To "see" what's on that learning eeprom you have to make a hardware hack, which is explained in a doc. at the yahoo JP-1 site. basically it involves adding a "stereo-interface" to the remote. Unless you perform that hardware hack, you're not going to be able to "see" (In IR) the signals that the remote learned. Did you perform the hardware hack?

First off, there's a newer version (2.10) of the DecodeIR.dll that you should upgrade to.

I'm not certain if the 8900 is related to the 8800 or the 8910. If it's the 8800, as Jim already pointed out, to access the learning EEPROM the remote needs a hardware hack. If it's related to the 8910 (an S3C8 remote), then the Learned tab should be available unless you're using an extender (which eliminates learning ability).

I see "Sharpdv600.txt" in the Files area... is that the file you're using? If so, it looks like it's the same as VCR/0630 which uses EFC 169 for Power (listed as Standby in the upgrade)

Check the Advanced Codes list for Audio/0135.

Also, check out these Keymaster files for the Onkyo 600 and the Onkyo 601

Both work with my SR501, which means they should work for your SR500

Hey Terry, you must have typo'd the model number because there's no such remote as a URC-8900. If you mean the URC-8910 then the Learned Signals tab should be present. However, if you meant the URC-9800, then like Jim said, this is a "Producer 8" remote and there isn't a Learned Signals tab in IR.

Regarding the Onkyo DVD command. The recommended upgrades and others worked well for me. The DVD uses a different subdevice command than most of the other common inputs. Did you select your correct remote in KM and copy and copy the device code as well as the protocol code to IR.
