I just built the improved USB interface with Mouser parts and Delcom chip.
When I plug it into a USB port the LED comes on but Vista doesn't try to install drivers or anything, I tried it with the remote (URC 9960) plugged in also and nothing. Also when I plug just the remote into the cable w/o it being plugged into USB the LED also comes on.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this thing? Thanks in advance Smile

Are you getting prompted to install the drivers?

If not just install them and see what happens.

Windows does nothing, no prompt for new hardware or anything and I can't install the driver since Windows sees nothing new.

When I first assembled it I had forgotten to swap wires four and five before I tested it out, not sure if that would do anything bad or not.

If you have the drivers, with the .INF file, try this:
Go to Control Panel, then Add Hardware.
First try and let it scan.
At the manual list, click next, and you should see a Have Disk button.
Point it at the drivers and see what happens.

No dice on that either. Windows tells me I need a driver for 32-bit Windows, or something similar. Is there some way I can check with a multimeter if the Delcom chip is working?
