upgrade a device code

Post by gestereo »

When putting in a new upgrade for a device do you lose all the programming in the remote (urc-9800) or just the setup codes? Thanks Stephen

Adding an upgrade by JP1 cable just hides a built-in setup code with exactly the same type and number.

It does not hide any other setup codes, nor delete even the one it hides.

You can unhide that built-in setup code later by deleting the upgrade.

I always download from the remote 1st to save any learned commands. Then add or replace the new upgrade.

Seeing how new you are to the forum, I just want to make sure that you are starting by downloading from the remote. When you download you get all your key moves, macros, and setupcodes and other settings from the the remote. If you then add a device upgrade that you created in KM or RM to that downloaded image you won't lose anything.
But you must download from the remote first. Everytime you upload to the remote you only get the settings that are in the IR image.

When you download from the remote, it goes into the program IR. You can then save the file (file->save as) to your hard disc.

Best,
