Slightly OT: labeling my remote?

I have recently completely redone my 9910 remote to accommodate changes in my DirecTV receivers.

Because many of the functions of the buttons on the bottom will be the same for multiple devices, I would like to put labels below or above them so my wife has fewer problems operating it.

I have in the past used Avery labels which on a previous remote (the old, venerable RS 1994) stuck very well. I tried the same thing on my 9910, and they don't stick at all. I am assuming the surface is not amenable to the glue sticking well.

Has anyone tried doing the same thing on your remote? What did you use for the labels, and how did you attach them to the remote?

I use the "table" function of Microsoft Word to create a small label that matches the key pattern at the bottom of the remote. I then print the table on standard paper, cut it out, and attach below the buttons using regular old scotch magic tape. This is very flexible. Since I use device specific macros (DSM), some keys have multiple functions. The label can reflect this. I use colored background to reflect red, green, blue, and yellow buttons on yhe original remote in SAT mode and text on top of the colors to reflect button functions in other modes.

I always print up an instruction sheet for my remotes. I keep it in a drawer and pull it out when we have guests.

I've been toying with the idea of using "temporary tatoo" inkjet decal paper. Its kind of like having the lable printed on the sticky side of scotch tape. When the remotes are silver this would give you nice tiny stickers.
