bticino light switch (remote: IR4482-7)

Hellò guys!

Have to resort again to your expertise to make lights in my TV room JP1-controllable...

I have a 220Vac light switch made by bticino, a firm tha produces a lot of wall-plate mount devices for house mains net..

Up to 7 of these switches can be controlled by this IR Remote:
IR4482-7, which I don't have...

I have been given this Pronto .ccf file that contains the commands for the 7 Channels:

...how can I decode these codes and make them into numbers useful for a JP1 Remote?

I have tried to use Pronto IR Tool, and the codes get decoded as JVC/Mitsubishi, but all the other numbers don't make alot of sense to me

Hi Rob..

Just quickly tested the Device Upgrade you provided me...

IT WORKS!

Actually I tested only Channel 1 (I'll do more tests later to check all the channels I can set on the IR Receiver) and it actually works fine...

Just a couple of things:

I see you have provided up to 10 Channels... on the receiver I can set up to 8 Channels, but there is also another remote controller, in the same series, that can command up to 16 different channels, for use with other devices..

Are you able to guess those additional channels?

Last thing.. I have noticed that if I send the command with a very short press of my 9960 B01's keys, sometimes the IR receiver does not actuate, while it never fails to do so if I press the key for at least a second or so...

Is this behavior embedded in the receiver, or is it something that can be fine tuned in the protocol or, anyway, in the device upgrade you supplied me?

It is already perfectly useable the way it is now, but if you can make it perfect, why not?

If you look, you'll see that the OBCs for the 7 channels are 0 thru 6, so I'm guessing that any additional channels will follow suit.

I can probably tweek the protocol to send a minimum number of repeats.

Try replacing the protocol that I gave you with this one...

Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8+) bticino light switch (PB v4.00)
43 89 11 8B 14 85 51 08 08 00 B4 01 45 00 B4 02
3F 07 08 FF FF FF FF FF 05 8D 01 46
End

If it still isn't 100% reliable, try increasing the number in red. If you go past 09 remember that it's hex, so the next number is 0a, not 10.

Hi Rob...

Tested the new protocol, and now the commands from my 9960 B01 are working 100% even with the shortest touch of the keys

Still had no time to check all the channels, but will do so over the weekend...

For the time being I'm happy!

Oh! To test the new protocol, I just pasted the new protocol's data into IR... now that I know everything is fine, how can put together a new complete Device Upgrade containing the new protocol?

Cut & paste it into the Notes panel in KM (Setup sheet).

I assume you stuck with the value "05" for the number of repeats (ie, the number in red)?

I confirm the upgrade works fine and I'm controlling my TV Room's light from the 9960 B01!

And YES! I stuck with the 05 repeat value and the remote hasn't missed a single hit since then..

Hi Rob,

Just a request...

It happens that the PID=$01FF you gave to the protocol in the upgrade you built for my IR Switch, is already used in the 9960B01 Bill "Unclemiltie" is refining... it is used for a Brightness control Special Protocol...

I am using his extender in my remote, as this makes it much more useable than a stock one, and this PID overlap is preventing me from using Bill's new ExtInstall-2 tool to update my remote with new Extender's versions...

My question is, can I just change the PID to my likings in RM (...or KM) ?

Or is this a Job for experts as there are implications that I ignore in changing the protocol's PID?

$01FF is the PID that the UEI folks often use for one-off protocols, which means it's unlikely to ever be used as an official PID.

Therefore, I use this PID all the time for custom execs that I create.

To answer your immediate question, yes, you can change the PID in KM to whatever you like. But, I think it would be a better idea to ask Bill to use a different PID for the special protocol, due to the fact that I have already created many upgrades using this PID and I will continue to use it as the PID for custom execs.
