5. Do you have a JP1 cable? no
6. Still have original remote? yes
7. Checked the file section? no
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? no
9. Partially working setup code? no
10. Learning remote question? I tried to use the learning remote ability but I just pushed the buttons a couple hundred times.

Try AUX/1254. See if the receiver reacts to any of the keys on the remote (the number keys might be for input selection). If there are any functions missing or the functions are assigned to wrong keys, there is a way to correct those as long as some functions work.

I just tried using the 1254 code but it didn't work. It had no effect with the home theatre system and no buttons worked on the remote. I also have another question. When I press the all on/off button on the Comcast remote it turns of the cable box and it turns off the tv, but the tv then turns right back on again. The tv is a Mitsubishi WT-48413.

With code AUX 1254, the power key wont turn ON & OFF the aud receiver, because it uses discrete commands. The volume keys probably works the TV device, and the input commands are missing from this device. I guess you would think the code didn't work.

In this thread, another owner confirmed that the upgrade file for RT2500 linked in that thread worked for him.

Although it would be easier to upload the upgrade file using a JP1.x cable, you don't have to have it to add your device. Try this as a test.

First, set the setup code for AUX to 1254 (it should blink twice. If it gives you one long blink that means your remote does not have 1254. I tried it on my Comcast remote and it has it, however).
1. Press and release AUX
2. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
3. Type 994
4. Press and release SETUP
5. Type 28153
6. Press and release POWER
The remote should blink twice.

Now try the POWER button to see if powers on or off the HTS.

Try a couple of others below to see if they work. Repeat the steps above except use the code below in step 5 and press the key you want to assign that function to in step 6:

DVD-Input = 61695
Sat-Input = 28415
CD Input =61183
Tape-Input = 61183
fm/am - input = 27903
VCR-2 Input = 60671
VCR-1 Input = 28159
TV-Input = 60927

If they do work, I'll list the rest of the function codes (called advanced codes or EFC) for you to type in.

I tried using all the codes you gave me and none of them works. When I try to enter the 1254 code the remote does not blink twice and I dont know if that matters.

It is the first remote which is the Comcast Custom DVR 3 Device remote.

The manual for the first remote from Rob links uses 5 digit setup codes, since you didn't get two blinks with code 1254, try code 31254.

Does it not blink at all or does it give you one long blink? If it doesn't blink at all, maybe it is one of the new ones that take 5 digit setup codes. Try AUX/31254. Does that give you two blinks or a single long blink when you get to the 4th digit?

Thanks. The 31254 code works and now the remote operates everything but the power on/off on the HTS. I tried all the previous mentioned codes for the power on/off, but none of them worked.

Anyone out there know of any more codes to try for the power on/off key to work on my remote. Everything else works except that, which would be really nice cause then I would only need one remote (my lifelong goal).
