|
|
Okay, now that Rob fixed my stupid mistake on getting my two Replay units to work with the 8910 (thanks!), I have two questions that need hopefully a short answer.
1. How could one create a macro for a channel change for one unit? For example, I currenttle have M1 transmitting 230<enter>. How can I get the 'numbers' for only Replay unit to appear on a macro key? I do have two 8910s, so I could learn to another and copy/paste. Is that the best way or can I create this in KM/IR somehow?
2. Need just a pointer here: I've gor the correct device files hooked to the right keys. Where/how do I add, for instance, another sequence such as device select to the receiver and device power (just for that one deivce) to the device button. Is this part of what the extender does?
Thanks! _________________ -Lee |

Just make sure the macro is bound to the correct Device Button for the proper unit. _________________ Mark |

Er, I thought macros were 'remote wide', no device-orientation at all? At least the manual treats them that way. In IR. are we talking about the 'Import' function? That's the only place I can see a 'tie to device' option. _________________ -Lee |

Yeah, you're right... I always forget that.
If you're not using an extender, then look into the Device Specific Macros special protocol. That will do what you want it to. _________________ Mark |

Okay, thanks! Same recommendation for question 1?
On the extender front, I've downloaded the extender for the 8910, and the doc is a bit confusing. It sounds like it overrides some of the basic functionality and you have to reprogram things like VPT for all modes by hand. Is that a correct interpretation?
Any doc for using the extender beyond what's in the zip? _________________ -Lee |

Did everyone see the last question? Any doc around for extenders like that JP1 beginners' document? _________________ -Lee |

There's no "how-to" extender guide, only the documentation that is included with each one. They can be a bit daunting, but aren't really that difficult. Like everything else in life, you need to walk before you can run, so having a good understanding of JP1 basics helps when moving on to an extender. _________________ Mark |

Ok, thanks, didn't want to stumble if there were good walking instructions somewhere!
Am I correct in interpreting the doc to mean that you have the extender wipes out the internal VPT? _________________ -Lee |

Extenders pretty much take over all control of the remote, including VPT. There's no such thing as tradition device buttons with an extender, it's up to you to define which buttons are your device buttons by you programming macros to them. These macros tell the remote which setup code to use for each logical grouping of buttons, which includes the volume buttons. The default setup includes macros one each device button that prety much re-creates the original device buttons "as is". The V_ entries in the macros are the extender equivilent to VPT. _________________ Rob
