I'm looking for discrete On & Off for a .

1. Device: Philips DVP3340V/17
2. Type of device: DVD/VCR Combo
3. Year: 2007
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: RS 15-1994
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? Yes
6. Still have original remote? Yes
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? Yes
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4729
(VCR portion requires Device 5)
10. Learning remote question?
Yes - I have learned some functions and figured out everything I need but discrete On/Off. I have run through all 256 EFC codes with both device 4 and 5 with no luck, so maybe I'm out of it (luck, that is) Sad. Is there anything else that I should try?

Ironically, this almost exact product is available labeled as a JVC but with JVC protocol. I was able to figure that out, but I need to deliver 20 of them to a client and don't have as good a source for the JVC as I do for the Philips.

Thanks

Dick

It looks like you did some experimenting with the RC-5 protocol before settling on the RC-6 protocol, is that correct? The reason I ask is because I see that you have a 2nd (104) and 3rd (5) device code entered, even though these don't do anything for the RC-6 protocol. Plus, you have data entered in the "byte2" column of the functions sheet.

Does the VCR side really use device code 5 with the RC-6 protocol, or does it really use the RC-5 protocol?

At any rate, if you've tried all 128 OBCs for both device codes, I would have to conclude that this is a TOAD device (ie, there are no discrete codes).

Do you need remotes for the 20 units that you are supplying?

Yes, I played around with several different protocols before landing on RC-6. The several buttons that I captured from the supplied remote all were identified by IR.exe as RC-6, either Device 4 or 5.

I didn't get any results w/RC-5 but might not have explored far enough. If you think it might reveal what I'm looking for, I'll spend the time. Otherwise, I'll move on.

That's what I've concluded. I think I'll just go with the JVC. It does what I need.

These will be going into classrooms with hardwired remotes. Some devices have RS232, these devices IR, all run by the same remote system. I will need to provide the factory remote along with the custom hardwired system.

Thanks for taking a look.
