here are the pertinent items and what they (are supposed to) do follows:

macro:
ENTER: SHIFT-ENTER; SHIFT-PHANTOM1
keymoves:
shift-phantom1: tv/1800 00
replay-guide: tv/1800 81 05 8A
channel-guide: tv/1800 81 04 89

ENTER key: when pressed, it first does "shift-enter" - since we have no keymoves or macros on shift-enter, this shift-cloaks to just "enter". next, it presses the SHIFT-PHANTOM1 key (below).

SHIFT-PHANTOM1 key: this is a toadtog that toggles toggle bit 0.

REPLAY-GUIDE key: this is a toadtog that presses vol- ($05) if toggle bit 0 is set, and presses shift-replay-guide ($8A) if toggle bit 0 is not set. since there are no macros or keymoves on shift-replay-guide, it shift-cloaks to just replay-guide.

CHANNEL-GUIDE key: same as replay-guide key but for vol+ .

I am guessing it is just a dumb mistake on my part. I am new to all of this. If any experts have a moment, the file is here. Extender code calc worksheet does not have toadtog listed for the replay 5000 remote. is it possible that the replay 5000 extender does not support toadtog? I saw tv/1800 in the IR.txt file, so I am assuming that the extinstall put it there.

Well I messed around with this for a few hours and also tried the device toggler protocol and was unable to get any of it to work as desired. Thanks for the help! I'll just have to live with the volume buttons where they are.

Tom,

can you post a virgin image of the replay 5000 remote?

Merry Christmas,
-Steve

PS what device controls volume, the TV? Is that set up as a device upgrade? which one, tv/which?
