|

Sony Camcorder Remote for Camcorder Model hdr-hc3. Learned the codes in JP1, but I am unable to create a device, etc...in KM.
The learned codes are in the JP1 file under "learned" and "AUX". There seems to be 4 different Sony codes, and I have tried but am unable to get the new device to work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I think the problem is with the device selection in KM...and how to "sub-device" for this remote.
The JP1 file is here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4470
The KM file is here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4471
Thanks,
Gary

|

You need to read the info in the "Protocol Help" tab in KM which should explain how to enter the various codes. The cells in the main Setup sheet are just for the Sony20 sub-device codes, of which you only have one.
The codes you need to combine are:
Sony20 device 26, sub-device 241
Sony15 device 217
Sony15 device 185
Sony12 device 7 _________________ Rob

What do you mean when you say you are unable to create a device in KM? I don't see the VCR 2011 upgrade in your IR file. You need to copy this upgrade (and the 00 27 protocol upgrade) from your KM file into IR in order to use it. Either you're leaving something out, or I'm misunderstanding. |

Rob,
Do you mean that I need to create 4 seperate upgrades, using only the keys that are using the specific device and sub? |

Basically, what Rob said - but I would add:
Sony20 Device 26, sub-devices 73 and 98
READ THE PROTOCOL HELP
Code: | Sony Combo (12/15/20):
This combo protocol allows you to combine as many Sony12 and
Sony15 codes as you like with up to 4 Sony20 codes. You enter the
codes for the functions in OBC format as usual. Then in the byte2
column you enter the Sony12 or Sony15 device code. For Sony20
functions, you need to enter the 8-bit subdevice code (0-255) in the
four device code cells in the Setup sheet. Then in the byte2 column
you need to enter a 1-digit number indicating which of those 4 sub-
devices you wish to use (1, 2, 3, or 4), followed by a space,
followed by the 5-bit main device code (0-31).
For Sony12/15 codes, the spreadsheet will treat device codes 0
thru 31 as Sony12, and codes 32 thru 255 as Sony15. However, if
you wish to explicitly specify which version you want, enter a "5"
for Sony12 and a "6" for Sony15, followed by a space, and then the
device code. |
then READ IT AGAIN - CAREFULLY!
Note that on the SETUP worksheet in KM, you enter the Sony20 SUBDEVICE codes you need. In your case these include:
73, 98 and 241
Then when entering individual functions on the FUNCTIONS worksheet, you enter the Device code for each OBC in the BYTE 2 column (and for the SONY20 functions, you precede that with a 1, 2, 3, or 4 to select the desired SUBDEVICE code from the SETUP sheet).
You have made NO entries in the Byte 2 column, hence none of your functions are properly defined. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

The reason there is no vcr 2011 upgrade in the JP1 file is that I loaded it and it didn't work....so I removed the upgrade and protocol.
Should I have left them in so that you could better see what the problem is? |

I again suggest READ and FOLLOW the protocol help. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

Try this and see if you can figure out what I did to convert your learned signals into KM data entries.
I cleaned up the function names for those functions which you described in the notes column, and added the four functions you learned to the four DVD buttons that were absent from your KM file, but I don't know what they really are. Rename those functions, make your button assignments, and then copy and paste the protocol and device upgrades into IR.
EDIT: I just realised that you specify that only the AUX device has the learned functions applicable to the camcorder, so I guess that the four functions learned to the DVD transport buttons do nto apply to this camcorder. Just delete references to those extra buttons and subdevice codes and the upgrade should still work just fine. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

THANKS!!!! WORKS GREAT!!! I had to upgrade my km program file (which then I could see all the optional sub device fields. My old version did not show them).
You are fast...again, thanks for the great help.
off subject question:
I had to do this on my old computer xpsp2 because my new system running vista64 gives me a connection error to my old parr cable and KM will not run under Office Excel 2007.
Have you run across this yet?

You are fast...again, thanks for the great help. | No problem.
However, PLEASE complete your upgrade file with all of the correct function names (hopefully, you have realised that the function names can be overwritten by you. It's just BUTTON names that you cannot change) and upload it to the file section so others may benefit from it. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first
