Hi,
I need some help to build a protocol to this Brazilian Positronic Dimmer with just one key that turns on/off and dim the light (if keep pressed). I've learned this key several times and downloaded to IR. The .ir file can be found here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4340
Sometimes the 'Sent Once When Key is Pressed' is blank, and sometimes looks like:
+256 -770 +490 -878
And 'Sent Repeatedly...' always looks like:
+490 -878
Just it. There is no long sequence of 0 and 1 to be figured out.
I would appreciate any help. This is the last learned key and I'd like to install an extender into my 8811. |

Yes, all learns work to turn on/off, but not to dim. |

If I replicate these learns for you, the upgrade will only work the ON/OFF function, not the DIM function, so you'll need to do some further experiments to see if you can capture the DIM signal.
For starters, try this. First, press and hold the OEM button to try and time approximately how long it takes for the signal to switch from the ON/OFF signal to the DIM signal. Then, start again, only this time cover up the IR window of the OEM remote using your hand, then start pressing the OEM button and after a few seconds remove your hand and observe whether the device turns ON/OFF or whether the lights dim. Hopefully, it will immediately start dimming rather than toggling the power. If it does, you should do the same sort of experiment in order to learn the DIM signal.
In other words, start pressing the OEM button *before* putting URC-8811 into learn mode. _________________ Rob

Here's an upgrade that should replicate the learns, which means it should work for ON/OFF but not for DIM.
Upgrade Code 0 = 2F D0 (Home Auto/2000) Positronic Dimmer (KM v9.07)
FF 00 11 00
End
Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (S3C8+) PB v4.00
42 89 01 8B 12 84 09 00 01 00 DB 01 B9 00 DB 01
B9 00 00 00 7D 01 63 8D 01 46

Thanks a lot, Rob!
I'll try the codes and the procedure to capture the dim signal tonight at home, and then post a reply here.

Rob, tried the codes and they worked for on/off, thanks. I mapped it to power button of CD device.
But it has a strange behavior:
- if I press the key too fast, it doesn't work;
- if I press too long (1 sec or more), the led blinks twice and the device selection changes to TV (I can't remind now if it works for on/off before changing to TV);
- works fine if I press the key for about an half second.
It seems that the remote is reseted when the key is pressed too long. Anyone knows what can be happening?

Let's not worry about this too much, let's wait to see the results of the other tests that I asked you to run and then I'll try and write an executor for you that works for both ON/OFF and DIM. _________________ Rob

Ok, I did the other tests and when I cover up the signal for a moment and then remove my hand, the light starts to dim.
Using this same method, I've learned several times the signal. But when I press these learned key, it just turns the light on/off, not dim (same behavior of the not covered learned keys).
I left the .ir file at home... I'll post it tonight, ok?

Replaced the batteries and the strange behavior (reseting after a long key press) has gone.
And the code posted by Rob worked for dim too
That's ok now. Thanks again!

It's a loop. If you keep the button pressed, you dim the lights until its minimum brightness and then it starts to brighten again until its maximum brightness and then dim again and so on.
Thanks for KM file!
