I tried both of the KOSS files in the file section, no luck.

I just got this DVD player at COSTCO, it is amazing.
The cheapest player I have seen anywhere and it supports VCD/SVCD/MP3/CD-R/RW/ DVD+/-R/RW plus it will show JPEG photos, does progressive scan, has a backdoor to disable regions, and has dual karaoke with echo and level controls if thats your thing. Seperate component outs, and has both coax and optical audio out. Supports DTS. Plus firmware updates via CDR.

Is it possible this player is rebranded and I should be looking under a different manufacturer?

What remote you are using? Try DVD_0046 or DVD_0104.

1) Do you have a LEARNING JP1 remote?
2) Do you still have an original working remote for the device in question?

Begging your pardon but the 1994 is a learning remote. Why do you think it isn't?

The 15-1994 IS a learning remote. You should be able to learn buttons from the Koss remote and then look at the way they decode in IR.

Is it? I bought it several years ago and never had to learn any buttons on it. Huh I guess I will have to go find a manual for it and give it a try thanks .. Laughing

Don't look for the orriginal manual. Read the version of the manual that Rob improved at
http://www.hifi-remote.com/manuals/rs-l.shtml?15-1994

I looked at the two KOSS upgrades you tried. One uses NEC1 protocol. The other (Koss KD260 0651.txt) uses RECS80 protocol and matches the various data I've seen on a few different models of KOSS DVD. KM doesn't have great support for RECS80 protocol and that may introduce extra ways to get confused and trash something in the course of converting it to 15-1994. I don't have any specific error in mind, but I think that upgrade may well be right and maybe you should double check what you tried in testing it.

But learning and decoding signals is a better approach. If they decode as RECS80 device number 5, then you should recheck that upgrade. If they decode as something else, that upgrade won't apply.

Thanks! I learned some keys and they were RECS80 so I tried the KD260 file again and it worked, not sure what I did wrong the first time.

I'm just noticing it doesn't say learning remote anywhere on this thing.. it must be why I bought it, what a slick remote control.

Radio Shack terminology for learning is "smart", in other words the four "smart keys" are supposed to be the learning buttons.
