Scientific Atlanta AT8550?

Post by fordcrews »

Anyone know anything about the Scientific Atlanta AT8550? It looks a lot like their other remote, but has 5 devices. IR seems to read and right to it fine, but upgrade codes created for at2000/er1 in keymap master don't seem to work.

Does anybody know anything about the SA AT8550? I saw this remote (or maybe AT8400) at my sister's place and opened up the battery cover to see if it has a JP1 connection (it's a disease  ) and I thought I saw a 4 pin header in single row and thought, no JP1.

I also looked at the manual and lot of the command codes like reset (981) and code search (991), and volume lock (993) are the same, but the device codes were all different, so I just thought nothing's stopping other companies from using the same codes for the commands.

However, the OP of this post seems to be implying that at least he did connect a cable to the remote for IR to communicate with the remote. Anybody know if it might be JP1 capable?

If the remote uses 99x codes, that pretty much confirms that it's a UEI remote, but you are right that the setup codes in the user manual are not standard UEI setup codes. I was expecting to find that all the codes are regular UEI codes but offset by a certain amount as that's a trick that UEI sometimes uses to try and disguise that the fact that they have programmed a remotes, but that doesn't appear to be the case here.
