Beginner question before I begin

Post by skittles »

Ok I have a MX500, Has a 7 pin jack in the battery compartment. Lokks like a USB type. Bought a JP1 cable from the site, but it does not fit. Do I need a adapter or am I trying to hook up the wrong cable? Any help would be wounderful, Can't wait to get started. Thanks Skittles

The MX-500 is not made or programmed by UEI, so it has no JP1 capabilities whatsoever. MX500 owners often buy a JP1 remote and cable to assist in programming the MX500.

There is also a device called IRClone that you can use to program the MX500.

wrong remote. This forum is for ueic remotes, and the MX500 isn't one of them. Not gonna find an adapter either, even if you managed to fashion one to fit it isn't gonna help you any. Jp-1 won't work on a MX-500 even with all the wishin and dreaming you can muster. You could use your cable and a JP-1 remote to teach what you want to the MX-500 so all may not be totally lost.

It's probably for a very similar use to the JP1 connectors on our remotes, but nobody has reverse engineered how to use it yet. Instead, they developed the IRClone method.

There is a forum dedicated to HTM remotes like the MX-500, here's the URL:
