Loose connections?

Post by theymademedoit »

Hi,
I have a Technics seperates system and I have a right and left RCA lead going into the amp with the other end going into my DVD player in order to allow a bit more volume when watching DVD's.

I had not used it for a few weeks and when I plugged it all back in there is hardly any sound coming out of the speakers, but if I wiggle and move the RCA lead at the amp, the sound is full, I then have to strategically twist and place them and creep away from the unit to keep the sound!

The next time I turn it on I have to do it again!!!!

Anay ideas what I can do or what is causing it?

Regards,

Alan

There's a number of possibilities.
Solder connections on either device.
Corroded terminals.
Bad cables.

I would try reversing the cables, end for end.
Try different cables. The bigger and heavier the cable, the more likely to break internally.
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.
