JVC 0074 works for a few buttons and I did see JVC-RCVR-RX-552V.rmdu which has a few more. The RX-D702B remote has a ton of buttons. It is a universal remote itself and I am not interested in the buttons that control other devices besides the receiver itself.
I want to see if I can create an upgrade for this device. I have learned most of the buttons on the remote, including many I will never really need or program (to my 15-1994 or new 8910).
One of the stumbling blocks that I have not found a solution to (yet) is that some of the buttons use non-JVC 163 codes. These are the protocols, devices and subdevices I have encountered and don't know how to enter into RM:
JVC, 163 (most buttons use this)
JVC, 67
JVC, 175
RC5, 0
Panasonic, 34, 84 (several buttons use this)
Thanks,
Gary

You said that the remote has universal functionality, right, so my bet is that most of the non JVC-163 buttons are for other devices (but the JVC-175 ones might be for your device).
Therefore, my advice would be for you to try out your OEM remote in front of your device and verify which buttons actually perform functions on the device before you start to build the upgrade.
If you find that you need 2 or more different JVC device codes, you'll need to use the JVC Combo protocol instead.

It seems that the JVC 175 buttons are for the receiver (Set, Exit, Midnight-mode, Effects).
The RC5 0 buttons are non-receiver buttons (TV/Video, TV Vol+-).
However, the Panasonic 34 84 buttons are for the receiver. They include speaker L Front +- and R Front +-, Dimmer, SmartSetup. Other speaker buttons like L Surr +- and R Surr +- are standard JVC 163 buttons.
If the Panasonic buttons are not includable in the device upgrade, I can live without them since they are marginally useful.
I will look at the JVC Combo for at least the JVC 67 and JVC 175 buttons.
I called OFA to get the wav file for this receiver. Once loaded into the remote, will it be able to be used to get device codes? So far, I have not yet received the email with the files so I will have to call them again tomorrow.
Thanks, Rob
