I have checked all the sites that sell JP1 cables, as far as I can tell nobodyhas the parallel or serial port version in stock. One site has the USB version, but it is twice the price of the parallel.
Is anyone currently selling assembled JP1 cables for less than $20?
Where to get a JP1 cable

It appears that everybody is out of stock.

Is it ironic that the banner ad I am seeing on this page is for DIYGadget's "Deal of the Day" which is a JP1 cable (kit apparently) for $8.99, though it is out of stock and has been for the past few days I've been checking.
Anyone have any idea when any of these stores will have them back in stock?
Failing that is there a local store (like Radio Shack) that would tend to have the DB25 Male Connectors? I haven't been able to find them on the Radio Shack web site.
Do DB25 cables use a standard color coded wires inside the cable? If so could one easily make a JP1 cable by cutting a DB25 cable and connecting the resitor and diodes to the right wires?

Radio Shack usually has it.

Thanks for the links. It would be nice to add them to the "Simple" cable instructions. The Radio Shack links on that page don't work, and don't have links or part numbers for the connector or hood.kupakai wrote:Radio Shack usually has it.

I just got back from Radio Shack and bought all these. I think I have an IDE cable laying around. At Radio Shack an IDE cable costs more than all the other parts combined.

Leftover cables from old computer cases work well, too. Most of them have 2 pin headers for power, reset, drive LED, power LED, etc... You can usually find 6 wires that you can use to build one, if you don't need it very long. I've done that before, just crazy glued three 2-pin headers together. That was before I built a real cable with cat 5.
Worked fine, tho.
