Is this remote any good for UHF capabilities? I have seen it for $40 with the uhf extender.

Do you have any other suggestions that I might want to look into?

I plan on using it mainly for my 2 tivo units.

Thanks

Any UEI RF remote will be as good as any other UEI RF remote (ie, the URC-9910, URC-9800, 15-2117, 15-1995, etc).

They all have the potential to work well and to not work well, this is because RF is very dependant on the environment where the remote will be operating. If there's alot of RF in the air, or if there's alot of metal, etc in the path of the RF signal, these remotes generally don't work that well.

I already own the 9800 and like what it can do thanks to this group.

I didn't realize that radio shack carried rf remotes (15-2117, 15-1995).

I'll look into them before making my decision.

If you are happy with the RF performance of your URC-9800, I think it's safe to say that you will be happy with any of the newer OFA and RS RF remotes, as they all use the same technology.

The 15-1995 has been discontinued for a while, so you won't easily find that, but the 15-2117 is readily available.

Thanks, I think I decided on the 15-2117 because they are available locally.

Just a thought: If you're gonna "retire" the 9800 you could scavenge the rf puck from it and put it in the 2116, and use the same command center you already have. That would virtually give you a 2117 and save you some bucks.

Actually I am getting another one for a friend. But thanks for the idea if I ever decide to do that.

Just a FYI, I went to Radio Shack and the shelf price for the 2117 was $49.99, but for some reason when they scanned it in it showed up as $29.99.

I double checked the reciept and the item number was 152117 so not sure if this is everywhere or if I just got lucky, but great price.

Sounds like it's on special, in which case that is a very good deal (but it could just be a mistake too)
