Hi.

I have a OFA URC-8204 (kameleon UK version). From reading various posts I am still not sure if it is JP1.2 compatible.

Rob Do you have a cable that is compatible with my remote or am I better off getting a new JP1 remote. If yes, are there many differences between URC-8910 and URC-6131N, I seem to like the layout of URC-6131N better.

Thanks.

6131 is not a learning remote. 8910 is.
6131 needs eeprom installed, factory 1K, Rob 2K
6131 doesn't have LCD display, 8910 does - useful primarily for debugging
6131 does not have unlabelled buttons, 8910 has 7 such
6131 does not have backlight behind the buttons, invisible at night
6131 has odd keymove format so using extender from the beginning is almost a necessity but gives you tons of great features
6131n is a rectangle so often you don't know which end is up.

Try to find 6131 without n in the middle as it has a much nicer keyboard design. Mine is 6131B00.
All three are great!

Thanks,

Do you know if there is a cable for my URC-8204 Kameleon and whether it's Jp1.2 ? Should I just get a new Jp1 cable and remote ?

Thanks.

The URC-8204 is a JP1.2 remote, so yes, it will need a JP1.2 cable. Regular JP1 remotes require a standard JP1 cable. I hope that helps.

If we already have an upgrade available for your cable box (what brand/model is it?) in the file section, you don't even need to buy a remote in order to program your Slingbox.

But, if you have an unusual cable box, buying an 8910 remote and cable will give you all the tools you need to capture the signals and create an upgrade, but you'll need to learn how to use JP1.

I have the Coolbx Optima, if you read in the Slingbox section I have been talking with a really good guy that has been helping me trouble shoot everything. We came to the conclusion that I do need to get the hardware and download the codes. I will start to learn how to use the JP1 here while I wait on the remote to get here. I hope it is not over my head!...

What email address should I send the paypal amount to?

Rob,

I got a refund from paypal. You wrote that 9,50 is not enough due to Global Priority Mail not provided for my country. The mentioned shipping amount is 14.75, so I suppose the Paypal surcharge now also changes.

So is the following acceptable

URC-8910 - $20
JP1 "Simple" parallel - $15
JP1.2 serial cable - $20

Shipping to Cyprus : $14.75

Total = 69.75 + 3.50 = 73.25

Thanks.

Yes indeed. Sorry about the GPM thing, I was surprised to find that Cyprus doesn't accept it, but what can you do?

I still have your remote and cables boxed up ready to go from before.
