Help Phillips 55pl TV

Post by xadoor »

1. Device: Phillips 55pl9773 2003 LCOS tv 55 inch
--This family of tv is no longer made due to design issues.
2. Type of device: --55 inch LCOS TV
3. Year: --2003
4. UEI Remote model: --OFE 9910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? --YES
6. Still have original remote? --YES
7. Checked the file section?
--YES- got all my working codes built up from files from there
--For this device I"m using 1054 as a base.

8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)?
--Yes, just looked while typing this. My remote is an RC4305 and I see they have RC4310 but I'm not sure what to do with a CFF. I'll head in that direction now.
9. Partially working setup code? 1054 from the file section here
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... ile_id=953
10. Learning remote question?
-- I want to get the "OK" button to work. Its the button inside the 4 directional arrows. Its working now because I learned it but I'd like to get it added to my KM file. When I look at what got learned its 2 lines of data:
1) Protocol RC6, device 0, sub-device, OBC 92, HexCmd 5C, EFC 176 Misc T=0
2) Protocol Async6:507-528:B0.35..6A FF, device 85, subdevice 149, obc 106

In KM it lists the protocol as RC5. I haven't a clue how to enter that learned mess into that spreadsheet. Where should I go from here? Not even sure what to read next. Any help appreciated.

The RC6 decode is correct. The Async decode is a problem in the decoder and should be ignored.

Several Philips TV's use both RC5 protocol and RC6 protocol.

I think you can make those work using entirely RC6, but I'm not sure. If so you would take all the RC5 commands and use the same device and OBC number in an RC6 upgrade.

But it's probably easier (and less risk of being wrong) to keep the existing RC5 upgrade and add the RC6 functions as "external" functions in the upgrade (so KM or RM would pass them to IR.exe as keymoves).

An external function requires another setup code for help. If I'm reading Rob's devices file correctly, the only official setup code for RC6 device 0 is TV/0690 and that is not included in the 9910.

So use RM or KM to create a TV/0690 upgrade (RC6 device 0). On its function sheet put in the RC6 function(s) you found from decoding learned signals. Notice the EFC numbers computed there. But don't map anything on that upgrade's buttons sheet.

Install that TV/0690 upgrade into your 9910 config, but don't assign it to any device button.

Back in KM or RM in your main upgrade add external function(s) of TV/0690 with the EFC numbers mentioned above. Adding external functions is obvious in RM. In KM I don't recall how but it is covered by several older threads here and I assume by KM documentation.

Map those external function on the buttons sheet as if they were regular functions. KM or RM will then create the right keymoves.

If you post your upgrade (or change remotes someday) and someone uses it on a remote that does have TV/0690 they should skip installing that helper upgrade, so the external functions instead use the official TV/0690. If you post such an upgrade (that sometimes needs a helper upgrade) in the device folders here, it is best to post a .zip file including both the main upgrade and the helper.

THANKS!!

I read what you said a million times and then got a KM file that was RC6 from the file section and went from there. Actually it turned out the reason it didnt' work before is that the keys were mapped all crazy for my remote. Once I remapped them all it worked fine. I think I'm all set on the TV now.

You were a huge help.
