My Hughes HRMC 8 (GAEB0) DirecTV remote and Sanyo FXWD TV remote can operate the DVD side but not the VCR side, and of course they have no way to switch between DVD and VCR mode, but will turn the unit on or off whether it's in DVD or VCR mode, using the DVD mode on the remote.
I have two JP1 remotes, a Millennium 4 and a Radio Shack 15-2104, which I have programmed with the Apex 1100W code and the early (no DVD input) JVC audio/aux codes. (Hopefully that JVC code I did has been useful to someone!)
Apparently Toshiba has cooked up an entirely new VCR code, or at least one not in any 'universal' remote I own.
Just asking if anyone has done Toshiba VCR codes that might work on this combo unit.
I haven't tried the 15-2104 yet on the DVD side, hopefully it'll work so I can just add the DVD/VCR button to it and an existing Toshiba VCR code to treat them like two seperate devices. (Unless there's a way to map it all to DVD and swap all the different button codes with one button?)
I doubt the old Millennium 4 is up to the task, so I'll keep it wherever the Apex 1100W goes.
Edit: Or it could be that the Toshiba remote is always sending the same codes for each button while the DVD/VCR toggle just changes the way the unit responds to each code, and that those non-JP1 remotes are too 'user friendly' to allow a DVD code to be assigned to the VCR button. In any case there'd still be no way to switch the mode on the deck.
