Hi:

My LG DVD uses the DVD code 0591. The information says it's for Zenith VCR. I searched for Discrete power codes and found that Zenith VCR code 0039 has discrete power codes (125 for ON and 221 for OFF) Will this codes work with my DVD?
If not, are there discrete codes for the DVD 0591.

Thanks in advance

If you are using a JP1 remote (which presumably you are - although you didn't bother telling us. Digression - please read the number 1 Code Search FAQ, linked in my sig below.), you can test these directly by pressing Set/Magic/Green P/"the shift button" followed by the 3-digits of the EFC.

Why don't you try them, and then you can share this info with the community?

Here's a step by step...

1) press DVD (or whichever device button is programmed to work the DVD)
2) press (but don't hold) the SET button
3) enter the 3-digit EFC

Thank you for your reply.

Bad luck, the Zenith discrete power codes didn't work with this LG DVD. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I never heard of Homeseer before. I just now checked their web site, but I didn't dig around there very much.

I assume from your question that the Homeseer both captures IR signals from an original remote and transmits IR signals to control the device.

If you post the Homeseer representation for the signals from your Zenith remote, I probably can figure out what the format means. But some known examples would help for reference. Since you have a utility to translate Pronto Hex to Homeseer format, that's an easy way to create reference examples.

Here is the power toggle from a Zenith DVD
0000 006D 0022 0003 00AC 00AC 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0689 00AC 00AC 0015 0040 0015 0E3E

Here is the discrete On and Off from a different Zenith DVD
0000 0067 0000 0016 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 17d7

0000 0067 0000 0016 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 0013 0014 00a6 0014 00ce 0014 00ce 0014 0013 0014 17d7

Try the On and Off to see if they happen to work. If not, convert all three samples to Homeseer format as reference to help me understand the Homeseer format of the power toggle from your Zenith."

How do I translate this for my URC-8910?

Thanks

In fact it is the power toggle for DVD/0591. So I assume you already have it in your 8910 and it works as a power toggle.

The important point is that it is a different code set. If any codes in DVD/0591 work for your DVD then no codes in this other code set will work.

Those discrete codes you quoted in Pronto Hex are in the code set DVD/0039.

Even though some DVDs using DVD/0591 are Zenith brand and other DVDs using DVD/0039 are Zenith brand, those two setup codes are not related. Nothing you find regarding DVDs using DVD/0039 tells you anything about a DVD that uses DVD/0039.

I also did scan of all the codes in a bunch of CCF files compatible with DVD/0591. None of them list discrete On or Off commands.
