windows mce remote receiver question

i will be building a windows mce computer in the near future and would like to integrate the remote capabilities of mce into an exisiting 6131 or 7800 remote and i would prefer not having to buy the microsoft remote with receiver.
i note there is a file for windows mce in the misc file section of devices in the file library.
my question is if i use my remote, what can i use for a receiver for the ir signals.

That's the million dollar question, isn't it. If your PC doesn't have an IR port, you'll need to buy something. If not the MS thing, then something like Streamzap might do.
