URC 8810vs.URC-8910 programming question

Post by schmidlapp »

I have sucessfully programmed a URC-8811 a year ago but my remote died so I bought a replacement. What I got was a URC-8910. It's the same remote but with an LCD display. When I tried to copy over the files from my old IRand KM itwouldn't let me because the remotes were not exactly identical. (different model #) Then I downloaded the latest versions of IR and KM but there is no 891x to choose from in the remote menu in KM. Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help me? I can't seem to get this remote working. Thanks in advance for any help. schmidlapp

They aren't the same inside, looks are misleading :)
Edit 8810 upgrades in KM or RM to use 8910. In KM, you'll find 8910 under 9910 etc - it's the same thing.
In IR, as well as RM, this RDF file is used:
CPT0CPT0 (URC-8910(Old)_9910(Old)_8910(New)_9910(New)_HTPro).rdf

When you download your new 8910 into IR, it should pick up this file and then all you have to do is push the new 8910 kM upgrades, rebuild all your macros and ... and ...

I don't know whether 8910 is slower than 8810, but if the slowness of 8910 becomes an issue, the extender file is
CPT0CPx1 (URC-8910(Old)_9910(Old)_8910(New)_9910(New)_HTPro Extender 1).rdf

If you'd like an identical URC-8811 replacement, I have a few left for sale.
