Philips 32PT8302 HDTV

Post by dubr »

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the JP1, thus I must apologize for the newbie question. Nevertheless, I could not find an answer for it after ~ 2 hours of searching, thus here it is.

I have a Philips TV with the 0054 "setup code". For some reason, the navigation buttons on the remote (up, down, left, and right) do not work, thus I have 'learned' them from the original TV remote and using a KeyMap Excel created an upgrade for them. My upgrade contains only those 4 buttons. My question is how would I "merge" my upgrade with the existing 0054 setup code? Is using the 'keymoves' tab in the IR program an only way to do it? Another way would be download "setup code" 0054 into a KeyMap master and then modify it?

What should I do? I am sure there is a simple way that I just do not know.

Thank you very much for your help.

You can't "merge" an upgrade with a built in code. You can only have one setup code assigned to a device button at a time, so you would need to create a completely new upgrade that includes all the buttons that you would like to use. The good news is that there are several Philips TV upgrades to chose from in the file section, so there's no need to re-invent the wheel.

Using Keymoves is the simplest way.

If you happen to know that most Philips TV code sets are pretty much the same, you could start with any Philips TV upgrade in our file area as Rob suggested. I haven't checked whether we have any that wouldn't work (aren't pretty much the same as TV/0054).

For common old setup codes like TV/0054 another starting point is the devices4.xls file. I forget which of our file areas that is in, but it is mentioned in many other threads. That gives you the EFC numbers for TV/0054 in the 15-1994 model remote, which pretty much matches the EFC numbers of TV/0054 in other models.

Hello again.

Thanks a lot for your explanations. Everything makes a lot more sense now.
I have created an upgrade for a Philips_32PT8302_HDTV. I will upload the file to a corresponding section of the forum.

Thanks a lot!
